Private via ferrata inside Adventure Valley (Durbuy): four 35 m routes, from beginner to airy. Tree climbing, kayak, zipline and more await you in a full adventure park.
Today I am introducing a Belgian via ferrata a bit different from the others. Unlike those run by the Club Alpin Belge, this one is private, built inside the Adventure Valley park in Durbuy. It is not just a via ferrata: it is an immersion in a real adventure park, with plenty of other activities for the whole family: tree climbing, mountain biking, kayak, caving, Mega Zipline (1 km descent), tubing slide, Escape Room, laser game, playgrounds for kids, and more.

The via ferrata in detail
On site, I was warmly welcomed by Noah and Florianne, two friendly enthusiasts. There are four routes:
- 2 easy routes, perfect for beginners or families.
- A third more physical route, with plenty of wooden elements (wall ladders, planks, artificial holds), which demands a solid technical level and a bit of fitness.
- A fourth route, my favourite, longer, less physically demanding, but airier. You traverse sections without rungs, relying on the natural holds in the rock: impressive, but accessible, ideal for beginners easing into exposure.
The via ferrata reaches up to 35 m high, linked throughout by an expoglider (continuous safety system).
Practical tips
- Bring shoes with technical soles, as some rocky zones get slippery with wear.
- You cannot use your own gear for insurance reasons. Helmet, harness and lanyard are provided by the park.
Why it is worth the trip
Adventure Valley is much more than a via ferrata spot: it is a full adventure park, in a magnificent Ardennes setting, not far from Durbuy, the “smallest town in the world”. Canoe, tree climbing, caving, big zipline, tubing slide… Ideal for an adventure day or a break with family or friends.

Weather and conditions, Durbuy +
Weather, the first safety check
Wet cables are treacherous. Some routes close in winter or during nesting season, always check official information before heading out.
Before heading out on a via ferrata
Technical learning is less complex than climbing, but this activity carries risks that should not be underestimated. If you are a beginner, I strongly recommend going out the first few times with experienced people or paying for guidance (clubs in Belgium or a mountain guide).
I also invite you to check a friend's forum on the subject:

How many routes does Adventure Valley Durbuy offer?
+
Four different routes on the same site. Two easy routes suited to beginners and families. A third more physical one with plenty of wooden elements (wall ladders, planks, artificial holds). A fourth longer one, less physically demanding but airier, with traverses on natural rock holds. Each reaches up to 35 metres high.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
+
No, and it is actually forbidden. For insurance reasons, the park mandatorily provides helmet, harness, via ferrata lanyard and shock absorber. Your personal gear will not be accepted at the entrance. Just bring shoes with technical soles (some rocky zones get slippery with wear) and sports clothing.
Is the via ferrata suitable for children?
+
Yes, the two easy routes are perfectly suited to families and children, subject to the minimum height set by the park. The more technical routes already demand a solid level and an adult build. Check the minimum age at booking.
Do I need to book in advance?
+
Yes, booking is required at adventure-valley.be. Weekend slots in summer go fast. Prices include gear and supervision. It is a private park, so there is no CAB procedure to follow, unlike Pont-a-Lesse or Fond des Cris.
What other activities does the park offer?
+
Adventure Valley is far more than a via ferrata spot. Tree climbing, mountain biking, kayak, caving, Mega Zipline (1 km descent), tubing slide, Escape Room, laser game, playgrounds for kids. Durbuy, the smallest town in the world, is right next door. Ideal for a day out or an adventure break as a family.
